Technical work in the inspection of buildings. Responsible for inspecting all buildings and building areas both in the course of construction and on completion to ensure adherence to approved plans and conformance with the requirements of the building laws and regulations.

Responsible technical work in the collection of revenue. An employee in this class performs the more complex duties relating to the collection of revenue in a District Revenue Office. Work involves checking and maintaining Land and Building Taxes and Ground Rent Ledgers and Assessment Rolls, preparing lists and summary sheets of defaulters, and conducting investigations on such defaulters with a view to collecting outstanding taxes. Duties also include limited supervision over a small staff of subordinates engaged in similar functions relating to the collection of revenue. Some assignments are routine and repetitive and are carried out independently within the framework of departmental rules and regulations while new or specific assignments are received orally or in writing from a superior officer.

Technical work in the field of environmental health. An employee in this class is responsible for the enforcement of Public Health Laws, bye-laws and regulations and may be assigned to a specified health district in respect of such matters. Duties include the control of rodents and insect vectors; inspection of buildings, poultry depots and hatcheries, food establishments, residential areas, meat and other foods and of animals to be slaughtered, as well as ensuring the safety of water and the environment. Work is performed under the direction of a superior officer and is reviewed through technical reports and conferences for conformity to programmes, policies and procedures.

Technical work in quarry surveying. This job requires determining the boundaries of quarries on Crown lands and measuring the volume of materials excavated for royalty assessment.

Responsible technical work in the field of Graphic Art.

Responsible technical work in the field of graphic art. An employee in this class prepares graphic data for reproduction in publications and displays. Work involves examining raw data, conceiving and illustrating appropriate designs to be reproduced in printed material or for use in television production. Assignments are received from a superior officer, and the employee exercises considerable initiative and judgment in the performance of duties. Work is reviewed through observations for creativity and effectiveness.

Specialised work conducting tests for Drivers’ Permit and Professional Driving Instructor’s licences. An employee in this class conducts theoretical and performance tests for learners applying for a Driver’s Permit and experienced drivers applying for Professional Driving Instructor’s license. Work involves signing and issuing certificates of competency to those qualified and writing reports on results of examinations. Employee receives general, oral or written instructions on changes of policy, but is allowed considerable latitude performing assignments.
