Responsible for smelting metal for use in linotype and stereotype machines in a printery, sorting metal for reuse, heating metals to boiling point, skimming off dross and impurities, casting molten metal into molds, ensuring adequate supply of smelted metal.

Routine stenographic work with related clerical duties, taking dictation in shorthand and transcribing it using a typewriter, performing typing duties, and maintaining files and records.

Responsible routine work in receiving and paying money as a Cashier. An employee in this class performs routine cashier work, meeting the public and receiving or paying out money. Work necessitates maintaining detailed cash and book-keeping records and exercising extreme care and accuracy in accounting for monies received and in dispensing monies or stamps. Assignments are received orally and in writing from a superior who explains duties in detail. Work is supervised both in process and upon completion and is verified for accuracy.

Entrance level technical work in the operation of tabulating machine equipment.

Manual work of limited skill in a Printery. An employee in this class recovers and reconditions used printing machine rollers. Work involves stripping covers from roller stock and melting ingredients to form moulding compound. Assignments are received verbally from a superior but work is performed independently by the employee in accordance with fixed procedures and standards. Work is reviewed by the superior for efficiency and production excellence by inspection whilst work is in progress and also on completion.

Routine work in patrolling an airport or dock in the enforcement of the Plant Quarantine Ordinance. An officer in this class is responsible for patrolling an airport or dock area to enforce the Plant Quarantine Ordinance. Work includes keeping a check on persons who may attempt to land with prohibited plants, fruits, and vegetables and the seizure and destruction of such items. Work is supervised by professional superior to ensure compliance with the relevant ordinance.
