The incumbent is required to provide technical support by planning, organizing and conducting social and economic research activities into areas related to the functioning of the Ministry of Health in accordance with the objectives and strategic priority areas of the relevant division/unit of the Ministry to which the position is allocated. Work involves collecting, collating, analyzing and evaluating data on trends to inform decision-making.
The incumbent’s work includes assisting in the conducting, organizing and executing programmes of research in related fields for use in planning studies and problem solving, surveying of and collecting and analyzing information on the particular subject matter.
The incumbent reports to the Co-ordinator, Monitoring Evaluation and Research and assists in planning, organizing and executing programmes of research.
The Research Specialist would support the Health Sector Human Resource Planning and Development Unit of the Ministry of
Health, in the implementation of the work plan and development of strategies to build the capacity and capability of the HRH in Trinidad and Tobago through the provision of timely, relevant comprehensive and well documented research projects and studies.
The incumbent would be required to assists the HRH Research Specialist in the collection, entering, formatting and reporting of
information for organizational purposes. The incumbent would assists in conducting, organizing and executing programmes of research on matters pertinent to HRH and analyzing information on the particular subject.
The Occupational Health Analyst II would provide expert advice to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture by developing policies/procedures and material for the education of staff on issues relating to health and safety. Additionally, the incumbent performs investigations and audits.
The Occupational Health Analyst I would ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2004 (amended) by continuously pursuing risk reduction and monitoring/maintaining safe working conditions and practices.
