This job requires the incumbent to assist in the planning, organizing and coordinating of the operational activities in the Welfare Section, which is responsible for the provision of welfare, rehabilitation, and parole services to inmates. Functions include assisting in policy development and implementation of programs of activities; managing and coordinating the implementation of the Parole Release process as it pertains to the Welfare section, supervising staff, reviewing case histories of referred inmates, and providing counseling services as required.

Under limited supervision in the Legislative Drafting Department, the incumbent performs advanced legal work and assists in supervisory duties over attorneys and support staff. The incumbent is required to draft all types of legislative enactments including the preparation of amendments etc.

This job requires the incumbent to manage fire prevention and fire fighting activities within an assigned Division of the Fire Service. Responsibilities include participating in the formulation of the Fire Service policy; establishing and monitoring systems and procedures for ensuring that Fire Stations within a division are adequately staffed and appliances and equipment are adequately maintained to ensure prompt and effective response to fires and other emergencies.

Responsibilities include drafting disciplinary charges, representing the Commissions before the Public Service Appeal Board, and conducting legal training for public officers. Supervises junior legal staff.

The incumbent provides legal advice on financial matters to the Minister of Finance and government departments. Responsibilities include vetting legal instruments, advising on legislation and financial management, representing the Ministry on committees, and performing supervisory duties over junior legal staff.
