Furniture Inspector

Semi-skilled work in the inspection of government-owned furniture. An employee in this class is responsible for checking the location and the condition of furniture assigned to government quarters, offices, institutions, and private homes supplied with Government Furniture. Work involves preparing and maintaining detailed inventories and valuation of furniture damaged by occupants of government quarters. Assignments are in the form of furniture notifications of requests from departments or offices to the supervisor which are passed on to the employee. The employee adopts his own work methods for checking and inspecting. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed by a superior officer and by audit for correctness of inventories of furniture.
