An employee in this class is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Minerals Division. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing the Division's work programmes and strategic plan; promoting and facilitating the development of the minerals sector in general and the state's mineral resources in particular; supervising mining operations in Trinidad and Tobago to ensure compliance with relevant laws and licences; and allocating mineral reserve blocks through competitive bidding processes. The employee exercises a considerable degree of initiative and independent judgement. Work is reviewed by Permanent Secretary through discussions, reports, and meetings for efficiency, achievement of desired results, and adherence to policy and regulations.
