This job requires the incumbent to prosecute the more complex cases, including preliminary enquiries before the Magistrates' Court on behalf of the State. Functions include supervising the activities of a squad of officers engaged in the prosecution of cases; reviewing and researching cases before presentation in Court; examining and cross-examining defendants and witnesses; advising on charges to be laid; and performing general police duties as required.

The incumbent plays musical instruments at performances, installs and maintains electrical equipment, supervises junior staff, conducts rehearsals, and performs police duties during emergencies.
