The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing an co-ordinating the treatment, rehabilitation and reinsertion/re-socialization programmes/ projects systems of the National Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Secretariat.

The Programme Development Specialist develops and establishes the Tobacco Control Programmes within the Ministry of Health.

The incumbent is responsible for preventing and controlling public health emergencies of international concern at points of entry through screening of incoming and outgoing travellers; inspection of food, medicines, human remains, hazardous waste/materials, necessary establishments and any relevant imports; and enforce public health law in order to protect public health.

To provide technical support to the Director, Health Policy, Research and Planning in the development and evaluation of health sector policies.
