The incumbent is required to assist the Controller, Intellectual Property Office in planning, directing, and coordinating the legal work of the Intellectual Property Office and in carrying out its judicial functions.

The incumbent assists the Commissioner of Prisons in managing the operations and administration of the Prison Service, including developing policies, overseeing funds, and ensuring the Prison Service is in a state of operational readiness.

The incumbent manages the day-to-day operations of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, coordinates the activities of the operational, specialist, administrative, and ancillary services sections, and formulates policies and strategic plans.

The incumbent oversees the academic performance and discipline for students from Forms 1 to 6, ensuring that the monitoring system is effectively implemented while assisting in curriculum development.

The incumbent oversees the implementation of a system for monitoring the academic performance and discipline of students within Forms 1 to 5, and teaches technical/vocational subjects.

The incumbent oversees the academic performance and discipline of secondary school students and assists in formulating the monitoring system while teaching one or more general subjects.

The incumbent investigates unnatural or unexplained deaths, holds inquests, and determines if an indictable offense has been committed. Reviews and approves applications for exhumation and tissue removal for transplantation.

The incumbent stimulates research and creativity within the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago by providing intellectual property rights and ensuring their legal protection.

The incumbent assists the Law Reform Commission in achieving its mandate and manages the staff and resources of the organization.
