SCHOOL LIBRARIAN

Professional and supervisory work in the field of Library Science. An employee in this class organises, maintains, and supervises the activities of a Secondary School Library. Work involves supervising and participating in a variety of professional library duties for the development and maintenance of reference and circulation services for a secondary school library. Work also involves relating school library collection to school curricula and activities through liaison with teaching staff and with the School Library Service authorities. The employee also supervises a small group of subordinates engaged in the day-to-day library operations. Work is performed with considerable initiative and independent judgement and is reviewed by a professional superior through discussion and analysis of reports for efficiency and adherence to policy.
